BMW Concept Active Tourer [w/Gallery]

Fri, 14 Sep 2012

BMW will be presenting its new concept, the BMW Concept Active Tourer, at this month's Paris motor show as part of the ongoing development of the BMW brand and its model range.

With a length of 4,350 mm, a width of 1,834mm and a height of 1,560mm, the wedge-shaped BMW Concept Active Tourer targets the premium market along with families, and because of the car's long wheelbase of 2,670mm and a high roofline it allows for a spacious interior.

The car's front face features the signature front-tilted BMW radiator grille and wraparound headlamps with two large air inlets underneath, designed to emphasize the car's width. The raised roofline and large doors with integrated door openers serve to give passengers simple access to the car. At the rear horizontal body lines and large rear light clusters flow into the side panel, highlighting the broad wheel arches.

Inside, a laminated wood links the upper and lower instrument panel surfaces while the door trim panels and seats are covered in full-grain leather and smooth leather with orange seams. The cockpit features circular instruments and a central information display, with an optional extra of a full-color Head-Up-Display on a retracting glass surface. A panoramic sunroof extends across the length of the cabin, and with ‘Suspended Particle Device' technology the desired brightness or temperature effect can be created at the touch of a button.
